Finance Monthly Global Awards 2018 Edition

addition to the fact that we have an extensive practical experience with very large and complex investigations and valuations, we also have a solid scientific background that we use in the way we do our work. Today, our company offers three core services: valuation, corporate and cause investigation, and dispute resolution. The latter activity is partly due to our experiences acting as business mediators, arbitrators and expert witnesses. Frequently, these services take place in an integrated manner. What makes your company stand out from competition? We make sharp choices in what we do, and what we then do, we do really well and with full dedication. This also means not doing certain work, or not serving a certain type of clients when they want something that we can’t offer them. In fact, this means that if we want to offer top-quality services, we have to be able to say ‘no’ to an assignment, no matter how attractive it is. This philosophy proves to be profitable because we get more and more referrals from customers that we have previously supported and are happy with the services that we have provided. And perhaps, the most important thing is that we have remained independent and therefore, are never conflicted with other activities. What are the company’s mission and priorities towards your clients? Have these evolved over the years? At BFI, we have decided to stay an independent boutique firm, specialised in valuation and investigation in the context of commercial or shareholder disputers, as well as business failure. For us this means that we know our clients well, we know what their real needs are and how to serve them best. We believe that this is only possible when there is a strong partner involvement, combined with the sharpness and enthusiasm of young and talented professionals who have freedom to act. To remain independent and limited in size is the choice we have made and the way we will continue to operate. We really think we understand what it takes to act on (international) commercial and shareholders disputes or investigations. The financial interests are sometimes very high. We explain to our clients that we are available 24 hours a day - and that really is the case. We are regularly called by clients in the middle of the day or during the Q Q “We try to add value to our daily work by involving science into our work. We notice that our clients appreciate this, especially in legal disputes, as we are very familiar with topics such as cognitive biases and causality as a result of our academic work.” Finance Monthly Global Awards 2018 www.finance-monthly.com 24 netherlands
